Swinging - A Beginner's Guide

So you're thinking about swinging?

Or perhaps you've dabbled already and just want to know more. Well welcome to The Swingers Guide. We're an independent guide to the swinging scene in the UK. Written by swingers for swingers. We recommend the best sites to join, the best clubs to go to in the UK and Europe and provide useful facts on things like safety and how to approach your first time. Also you can share your views on the best sites or clubs/parties so others can see what's hot and what's not.

The site is new and we are still adding content so please do check for updates and drop us an email at swingersguide@gmail.com to let us know what you think or to share any stories, club reviews or site reviews for other new swingers.

What is swinging?

You have all heard of the sexual revolution in the sixties and seventies and maybe seen films like "Eyes Wide Shut". Well swinging is all that and more. It mostly involves couples in settled relationships playing with other couples and ladies. For most swinger couples the guy is straight and the girl may be either straight, bisexual or "bi-curious". Encounters may involve a mix of straight sex, lesbian sex, oral sex, games and fetishes among any number of different combinations of men and women. It is unusual though not unknown for the guys to be bisexual and this is generally done rather in the privacy of a home than in the clubs. This site mainly focuses on straight or lesbian encounters as this by far the most common practice.

A study in the electronic journal of human sexuality put the average age people start swinging at about 31 for girls, 34 for guys. In recent years, swinging has moved considerably forward from the slightly seedy image of yesteryear. The internet has helped people connect with like minded others in a much more discreet fashion, clubs have improved measurably in quality and swinging now attracts a range of ages from as young as 20 upwards.

Swinging is largely an activity conducted by couples and single women. This is mainly as those that participate are most comfortable in this environment. Single guys will be invited to some events but will often have to pay a higher price, have restricted numbers and/or have to be known well by organisers.

Why swing?

A lot of people come to think about swinging to satisfy an erotic fantasy for one or other of the partners. What guy hasn't dreamed of being with another mysteriously sexy lady (or two!) with a different look, touch or scent and what girl hasn't wondered what the soft touch of another woman feels like or wanted to be taken by a strong mysterious stud? Swinging can satisfy these fantasies and many more. At it's best it can be the ultimate expression of love and passion - wild, intense and erotic. We cover some of the potential drawbacks in our Is swinging for me? section, but for now here's some great reasons to ty it out.
